This Sunday, May 8, is Mother's Day. I believe this is a day to salute all the women of our parishes because all the ladies of our two parishes have given a mother's love to someone. So, thank you for all you do to bring the love of God to others and for your sacrifices on this day. We'll have a blessing of mothers and all who have given a mother's love to others at all Masses this weekend. For ladies for whom this is a difficult day, we’ll be praying for you too.
For what it is worth, too, today might be a good day to promote the GABRIEL NETWORK here at St. Philip Neri and St. Clement. This group provides women in crisis pregnancies with emotional and spiritual support and items that they might need, like diapers, clothing, and other supplies. Sometimes some ladies do not have the support of the father of the child or their families, and this is where we come in: Not just telling people we are pro-life but showing it through an organization like this. You can contact our parish group through firstname.lastname@example.org (some members speak Spanish). You can contact the regional group that even has emergency housing in several locations at gabrielnetwork.org.
Other upcoming events:
1. Bereavement Group – This is for anyone who has had a loss. It began on April 21 at 7 pm in the
St. John Room. It will run through June 2. You can still join this group.
2. Catholicism 101 – An overview of the Catholic faith with Fr. Andy will run three nights at 7 pm: May 4, 11, and 18. For Catholics who are 18 years and older and received their First Communion but have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation, we would ask you to attend all three sessions. We'll get you signed up to be confirmed with
Archbishop Lori on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 3 pm at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.
3. The Theology of Body explains our Catholic view of physical intimacy and the great gift when it is seen as part of a committing loving marriage relationship. This will be presented by Tim Feeney on the following Thursdays: April 28, May 5, 12, 19 at 7:30 pm in the parish gym.
4. We will also have a nearly 24-hour recitation of the Rosary from Friday, May 13, 7 pm through Saturday, May 14, 5 pm. We have sign-ups already on our Facebook pages.
Peace! Fr. Andy
